As a qualified Epilepsy Trainer of The National Society for Epilepsy, I can provide a range of courses in the management and treatment of Epileptic people.All of the courses detailed below can be designed for your own particular needs. 
 
Epilepsy Awareness (3hrs)
 
This course is will provide an insight into caring for a person with Epilepsy. It is an introductory course and so is open to all. The course is ideal for Parents, family members and Carers.
 
Topics covered include:
  • What is Epilepsy
  • Types of Epilepsy and Seizure
  • Developing a Care Plan
  • Managing Medicines
  • Recognising and Emergency 
  • First aid for Seizures
  • Basic Life Support and The Recovery Position
  • Group workshop
Epilepsy Emergency Care and Rectal Diazepam / Buccal Midazolam Administration (6hr)

 
 This course provides detailed information on Epilepsy Emergency Care and the administration of Rectal Diazepam. The course meets the requirements of the Joint Epilepsy Council standards (2004 & 2005).
 
 
Topics covered include: Epilepsy Facts, Basic Life Support, Causes of Epilepsy, Seizure Classification, Partial Seizures, Generalised Seizures, Seizure Management, Triggers & Precipitants, Anti-Epileptic Medications (AED's), Use of Rectal Diazepam & Buccal Midazolam, Contra-Indications / Cautions, Procedure for Administration and Ethical Issues.
