Managing Medical Conditions in School & Early Years Settings

Supporting Children in Schools and Early Years settings with medical conditions is now a regular activity for staff. The two courses detailed below will assist in providing best practice in managing the conditions and carrying out procedures when required.

Supporting Pupils in School – 1 day course

This course follows the guidance issued by The Department for Education, Sept 2014. Topics covered include:

• Roles and Responsibilities
• Developing Policies and Implementation
• Healthcare Plans
• Staff Training and Support
• Child self management
• Managing Medicines and Record Keeping
• Emergency Procedures and use of Inhalers and Auto Injectors
• Common Medical Conditions, Asthma, Epilepsy, Anaphylaxis & Diabetes
• Any other topics required.
• This course is suitable for all Schools and all staff. No previous First Aid / Medical training is required.

Supporting Children in Early Years Settings – 1 day course

This course covers similar topics to the above course but also follows the guidance from the Statutory Framework for the Early Years Foundation Stage. This course is aimed at all those who care for EYFS aged children.
